Divergent Book Discussion (25)

Hey, people from Earth and other people who are not from here, for the next 6 weeks we will be giving you the awesomeness that is DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth. Be sure to show up, because we are giving away some goodies, check it out HERE. Just a side note, I will be asking a question after each discussion post. Be sure to follow the discussion and don’t be scared to join in on our discussion/ questions. Those who entered the contest will receive extra entries for answering a question. Every week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we will discuss three chapters per week: tell you about the plot, and other random bits of spicy goodness that you should definitely know about (all relating to Divergent). Just for your curiosity: helping me out with this discussion is Jackie, one of my best friends (please say hello to her). Basically these posts will be categorized by person. Jackie hasn't read the book so be sure to read her first impressions while she reads along and if you have read Divergent, be sure to read my input (this will be the my second read through). Today's Topic:
Four's Fear Landscape
Okay, so Marcus, the dread of killing someone, heights, and confined spaces are Four’s fears. I thought this was actually kind of funny because most people have these same fears, except they usually have more than four, but this is what makes Four, Four. And wow, Marcus is Four’s father? And wow, that means the articles at the beginning about Marcus were right…POOR FOUR, I WILL COMFORT YOU, OR BETTER YET, I KNOW TRIS WILL. I would so comfort Four, but alas, I am in another world outside of his…this stinks. So I guess what Marcus did to Four made Four want to switch over to Dauntless, and I don’t blame him. At least now he doesn’t have to deal with all the abuse his father was causing. Wait…FOUR WAS IN ABNEGATION TOO?! Okay, now I NEED to know if Four is Divergent or not because if he is, then there must be some reason why these Abnegation people end up moving to Dauntless and are actually Divergent.
Why do you think (or do not think) there is a connection between people starting out in Abnegation, transferring to Dauntless, but it turns out that they were Divergent all along?
