2011 Off the Shelf Challenge

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

I've decided that one challenge is not enough. With the 2011 Debut Author Challenge, I am participating in, I will be reading a lot of new books. So, what about my old books- you know, the ones that have been sitting all alone in the corner of my room, waiting patiently to be read. Well, I feel that it is their turn too now.

Off the Shelf Challenge:
Here's what it says:

Note: This challenge is to read those books you own copies of, but have never got around to reading. If you don't have many that you own, but have a massive TBR shelf you're welcome to read those ones as long as you don't add new ones. You don't need to actually get rid of your books after you've read them, this is just to read them.
How To Participate
1. Decide which challenge level you'll be doing (further below) - do not include books that you buy from the start of this challenge.

2. Grab the code for the badge down below and post it on a side bar or in a signature (if you want to participate, but aren't blogging, on a social network or forum - Submission For Non Bloggers).

3. Create your own post to let all your readers know you’re taking part in the challenge and at what level (if you're really proficient you can list your books!). Make sure to link back to this page with either one of the buttons or a text link..

4. Use the link form below to enter into the challenge by sharing your challenge post url and your name (either your name, blog name, or both). Please don't use the comment form to participate, only to comment on the challenge or something else..

5. Submit your reviews (if you choose to review them, but that is optional) on the review page.

6. When you’ve completed you’re challenge let us know on the completion post. If you're using a tag or category I recommend sharing the link back to that so everyone can find them

For more information and to sign up, go HERE.

I will be participating in Making A Dint level (which is 30 books).
Here's the book list I'm thinking about:

1. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia
2. Fallen by Lauren Kate
3. Perfect You by Elizabeth Scott
4. Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen
5. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
6. Wildthorn by Jane England

26. Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead
27. Night Star by Alyson Noel
28. Radiance by Alyson Noel
29. A Kiss In Time by Alex Flinn
30. The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

The list of books is not in the order that I will be reading them.
I'm very excited to start this challenge, so are you with me? The hardest part for me would have to be that I cannot go and add the books I buy after the challenge starts, I could, but it would not count as a book for this challenge. Good things are coming up for 2011! Can't wait.

  1. Hi there,
I am also in both challenges, I am so looking forward to the books I have picked for the Off the Shelf Challenge and still being able to buy new ones for the Debut Challenge.

  2. Gina I am writing my post today and was just wondering where you got the code to make the scroller to inset your list in, it would be so fab for my own list because it is going to be for "Flying Off" of 75 count long and that is a little long for a blog post in my opinion.. The way yours is set up it looks nice and consolidated with the scroller....
I found the code to do this somewhere but stupidly did not keep it where I could use it later and now do not remember where it came from...

  3. Margaret; Congrats and good luck! :]

Jackie B; Well, as much as it pains me to admit it, I'm sadly the tech nerd behind The Bucket List..I make all the codes and such, but try this; when you're writing the post, go to the "edit html" section (the other option is "compose) at the top right of the new post box. When you're there, add this code where ever you want the scrolling box:

    TEXT INSIDE SCROLL BOX HERE

Just before you publish it, delete the "JACKIEB" parts, I just put those there so blogger would show you the code. Where it says "text inside scroll box here" delete that and replace it with your book list..

    hope that helps!
