Top 10 Books I'm Thankful For

Tuesday, November 21, 2017

This week, in America, it's Thanksgiving. The holiday where families across the country gather around the table and partake in wonderful home-cooked meals and holiday cheer. However, at the heart of Thanksgiving is giving thanks to all the things that make it worth celebrating. And you know, I'll be thankful for tons of books.

With the holiday season coming up, my posts have become a bit inconsistent. I'm working on it and will try to continue posting through the holidays. Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week's topic is: Top 10 Books I'm Thankful For:

Just One Year by Gayle Forman: Thank you for providing a companion novel to Just One Day which continued the most romantic travel adventure I've read in a long time. Whereas Just One Day is filled with angst, Just One Year is filled with a touch of magic that stays with you long after turning the last page.

Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins: Thank you for being such an amazing role model. Unfiltered is the perfect book for everyone. It opens the discussion to peer pressure, bullies, eating disorders and more.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas: Thank you for continuing the conversation with this powerful book everyone needs to read.

Hate List by Jennifer Brown: Thank you for changing my whole world, opening a new way of thinking. Hate List is a book that changes people, for the better.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare: Thank you for being one of the best world-building books in YA today. Cassandra Clare, please, continue writing all the spin-offs and prequel series. The books are so much fun!

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee: Thank you for giving readers a historical fiction book with a road trip of epic proportions. And thank you for all the sassy characters that make me laugh.

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green: Thank you for being such an accurate representation of mental illness. And, of course, thank you for being awesome!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: Thank you for building such a diverse cast of characters that readers absolutely enjoy.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han: Thank you for Lara Jean and all her baking, scrap-booking, and amazing goodness. Her family and every character in this series holds a warm place in my heart.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas: Thank you for going beyond the Beauty and the Beast retelling of the first and wowing me with unbelievable world building, magnificent characters, and fantastic writing.

Happy Thanksgiving! Which books are you thankful for this year?
