Thursday, May 23, 2013

Hey, people from Earth and other people who are not from here, for the next 1 weeks we will be giving you the awesomeness that is DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth.  Be sure to show up, because we are giving away some goodies, check it out HERE. Just a side note, I will be asking a question after each discussion post.  Be sure to follow the discussion and don’t be scared to join in on our discussion/ questions. Those who entered the contest will receive extra entries for answering a question.  Every week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we will discuss three chapters per week: tell you about the plot, and other random bits of spicy goodness that you should definitely know about (all relating to Divergent).    Just for your curiosity: helping me out with this discussion is Jackie, one of my best friends (please say hello to her).  Basically these posts will be categorized by person.  Jackie hasn't read the book so be sure to read her first impressions while she reads along and if you have read Divergent, be sure to read my input (this will be the my second read through).  If you missed a post and want to check out the schedule, go HERE.  Come and join us in our quest of discussing DIVERGENT.

CHAPTER 37

Today's Topics:
Working with Peter and Tris's Father

WHAT THE HELL? (Pardon my French). I haven’t even read the chapter yet, but what would possess Tris to work with this dysfunctional psychopath that claims to be of humankind?! I guess she must be that desperate. Jesse.
Okay, this was not as bad as I thought it was going to be before I read the chapter, but I’m glad she took him along because I wouldn’t trust him either at this point.

Wow, he was really meant for Abnegation. I mean the guy killed the rest of the guards and sacrificed himself so Tris could continue on. I mean wow, both of her parents definitely had bravery and selflessness when it came to the end of their lives. But, I really don’t feel that bad about his actual death because he basically decided to disown her when Tris decided to be a Dauntless instead of stay in Abnegation. I mean dude, if you had EVER paid attention to Tris at all, you would know that she was not really selfless that much of the time. She only did it to try and fit in as a member of Abnegation, but besides that, she was not good at disguising her feelings about just not being a good Abnegation citizen. She was never meant for any one faction anyway, because she is DIVERGENT. Anyway, at least her dad did the right thing in the end for Tris, and on that note, I guess I can forgive him for being such a butt in the beginning about Tris’s transfer decision. At the same rate though, I think most parents (as long as they care for their child/children) would have done the same thing for Tris in the end. If not, then they have some serious issues they need to work out.

If you were Peter’s parent, would you sacrifice your life for him? Why or why not? I wouldn’t J
