Divergent Book Discussion (35)

Monday, May 20, 2013

Hey, people from Earth and other people who are not from here, for the next 3 weeks we will be giving you the awesomeness that is DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth.  Be sure to show up, because we are giving away some goodies, check it out HERE. Just a side note, I will be asking a question after each discussion post.  Be sure to follow the discussion and don’t be scared to join in on our discussion/ questions. Those who entered the contest will receive extra entries for answering a question.  Every week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we will discuss three chapters per week: tell you about the plot, and other random bits of spicy goodness that you should definitely know about (all relating to Divergent).    Just for your curiosity: helping me out with this discussion is Jackie, one of my best friends (please say hello to her).  Basically these posts will be categorized by person.  Jackie hasn't read the book so be sure to read her first impressions while she reads along and if you have read Divergent, be sure to read my input (this will be the my second read through).  If you missed a post and want to check out the schedule, go HERE.  Come and join us in our quest of discussing DIVERGENT.

CHAPTER 35

Today's Topics:
Overcoming Fears (2) and Tris' Mom

ALL THE FEELS (as if that really needed to be said). Anyway, I think Tris has overcome two fears, one of being in the tank where she is not in control/helpless, and when her mom dies and she can do nothing to save her. Poor Tris! She basically has faced a good amount of her fears just in this chapter alone, how could it get worse? (I shouldn’t have asked that). Oh yea, that’s right, she is probably going to have to kill Tobias. Great. FAN-FLIPPING-TASTIC. I’m going to go in my corner and cry now. Bye. L

What a Bada-I mean what an amazing-extra-specially talented mother! She managed to kill all the guards, saves her daughter, and dies for her. No love is more powerful than a mother’s (or parents) love for her (their) children. I kind of had the feeling that she was going to die, but what a martyr man…Jesse. And her mom did a good job of masking that she was Divergent for all those years…wow…that’s insane. Well I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. So does this mean Divergence could be hereditary? Or is it just a coinkidink that her mother and Tris are both Dantless?
