Movie Monday (The Selection)

Monday, March 19, 2012

Hey, guys!  I'm on spring break and have awesome things for you this week.  Not only do I have this cool movie that may be coming out but I also will be bringing you information about a book discussion that you will not want to miss sometime this week, so stay tuned for that.  Every Monday I try to bring you some awesome news about the upcoming movies of your favorite novels, as well as, reviews of movies that have released from books that you've read.

Today, I will be showcasing The Selection by Kiera Cass.  The CW, the channel that is best known for book adaptations such as Vampire Dairies and The Secret Circle, will be showing the pilot of the series based on The Selection.

I haven't read this book yet but I will definitely read it as soon as the book comes out April 24.  To find out who is playing who, check out HERE with what GalleyCat had to say about the new TV series.  I am so excited to both read this book and see the series on my TV.  It sounds fantastic.

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined. --Goodreads
It is going to be so good!  And it has been compared to the Hunger Games.  (Can't wait until that movie releases next week!  Anyone going to see it?)  Plus, The Selection by Kiera Cass has such a pretty cover with all that blue.  Check more about it HERE.  And don't miss it when the book releases and the TV show comes out!  What do you think of this good news?

  1. Trust me...you WANT to read this book. I am going to wait to see if the show gets picked up for a full season or not, then I will decide if I want to watch it. (I'm not sure I want to watch the show knowing there are more books coming!) But the book is great, Gina. Kiera has created a unique dystopian world with potential and some amazing characters. :)
