The Hunger Games Fandom

Is Hunger Games becoming the next Twilight? Well, of course it is. Have you seen the fandom behind this. Yes! I cannot wait til this awesome movie comes out. It better be awesome, if it is not, well I am not going to be happy.
I just wanted to create a post where if you like The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, then you will love the things that I have found. I have found quite a lot of things to show you. First of all, to complete your fascination with the series, you will definitely need this:
A confession: I do not own the series. Isn't that awful? I rented them from my local library, fell in love with them and had to give them back to my library. It was a difficult time for both of us, the book and I. Then, I hope you have all heard of the newest release of The Harvard Lampoon, famous for giving us parodies on some of our favorites like Nightlight and Bored of the Rings. Here comes The Hunger Pains: A Parody.

WINNING MEANS WEALTH, FAME, AND A LIFE OF THERAPY LOSING MEANS DEATH, BUT ALSO FAME! THIS IS THE HUNGER PAINSWhen Kantkiss Neverclean replaces her sister as a contestant on theHunger Games—the second-highest-rated reality TV show in Peaceland, behind Extreme Home Makeover—she has no idea what to expect. Having lived her entire life in the telemarketing district’s worst neighborhood, the Crack, Kantkiss feels unprepared to fight to the death while simultaneously winking and looking adorable for the cameras. But when her survival rests on choosing between the dreamy hunk from home, Carol Handsomestein, or the doughy klutz, Pita Malarkey, Kantkiss discovers that the toughest conflicts may not be found on the battlefield but in her own heart . . . which is unfortunately on a battlefield. --GoodreadsSounds fantastic. I am going to try to read this one right before the movie comes out, so stayed tune. Looking for more books to go with the series: Hunger Games Companion by Lois H. Gresh, The Girl Who Was On Fire: Your Favorite Authors on Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games Trilogy, The Hunger Games Tribute Guide by Emily Seife, and The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Guide by Kate Egan. Now onto videos that you need to see to complete your The Hunger Games fandom. I found this one, the other day that is hilarious! It spoofs the trailers to the movie. Check it out HERE. And if you want to see a funny, yet sort of creepy Gale, check this one out HERE. Last, but not least, I want to show you the awesome movie trailer:

Trailer appears epic, and the parody quite amusing, but I never really got into Hunger Games fandom. I feel like it's the same thing as in OHHC, where, since there's only really one main girl character (especially in the first book), all the fan fics are based around OC's, usually Mary Sues.
ReplyDeleteI am SO excited to see this movie!! I already ordered my tickets :D
ReplyDeleteI just about choked when I saw the cover for "The Hunger Pains" and my reaction to the summery was similar. Oh. My. Gosh.
ReplyDeleteLOL
True story: I cry every time I watch the trailer. I am SO SO ready for this movie.
