Director: Daniel Barnz
Main Actors: Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-Kate Olsen
I Rate This Movie: 4
A modern-day take on the "Beauty and the Beast" tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love. --IMDb
I went to see this movie, because:
- Alex Pettyfer (or as Nora likes to refer to him as Alexander Pettypants) is adorably sexy and I knew he'd be fantastic for this role.
- I love story-retellings and I loved Beastly by Alex Flinn.
- Who doesn't love a little chick flick once in a while?

Parts of the movie, I really loved:
- Make-up: Kendra, the evil witch, played by Olsen- her eyeshadow made her eyes very intense, and the tattoos on Kyle, played by Pettyfer, were amazingly done. (A little fact: Kyle's eye brows spell the words, "Embrace Suck," which is said by Kendra earlier in the film.)
- The tree tattoo on Kyle's arm was a great way to incorperate the book cover into the movie.
Wardrobe: Olsen's wardrobe was magnificent- Suttirat Anne Larlarb, costume designer- I applaud you.
Book vs. Movie:
- Lindy's "kidnapping"
- Kyle's beastly appearance
- Chatroom talks with Kyle, I barely saw any IM in the movie
- Obviously, it wasn't an action film, but I could have lived without all the silent, dead space.
- Kyle's creepy stalking abilities, that was kind of a turn-off for me.
- Mary-Kate Olsen's acting, all of her acting was done within the confines of the intense look in her eyes, but not in her lines (which were delayed and poorly executed).
I reccommend this movie to Beauty and the Beast fans and people who enjoyed the book.
Have you seen Beastly? How did you like it?
