Movie Monday (Book Covers)
Monday, January 17, 2011Every Monday, Nora and I like to bring you some movie information about books- upcoming movies that are books, cast info, and even movie reviews. This week, we'd like to bring you a special post to start a discussion of which book cover is better.
Movie Covers Vs. Book Covers
Does anyone, besides me, hate to buy the books that have its movie cover on them? It's probably just me, but I wanted to know. Here's a couple of the covers (the movie cover is on the left while the book cover is on the right):
As much as I love these movies, I do not think that the movie poster should be represented on the cover.
I can say that I adore both covers, but no matter how much Julia Roberts, the actress in the movie, looks like Elizabeth Gilbert- I don't think it should be on the face of a nonfictional work. I think it's just odd.

I know that this is only a TV series, but it still shows my point. Two gorgeous covers, but if they are going to be putting the movie poster (or TV poster) on these books, then they should put the book covers on DVD covers. It's only fair.
Does anyone else feel this way about movie covers? I would love to hear your comments and I want to know what movie covers you do like- they don't have to be the ones I showed you above.

It's not just you, I dislike it, too!
ReplyDeleteI hate movie covers too. It dates the book really quickly and looks a bit tacky.
