The Wait is Over

Finally, the wait is over.  Last week we were blessed with the release of a long-anticipated book:

Title: Mockingjay
Author: Suzanne Collins
Pages: 390
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Publication Date: August 24

via Goodreads

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins’s groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.
I have yet to read it, but I have heard amazing things about it already.  Of course, to most of you, the release of Mockingjay is old news.  This post is not just to wonder in what Mockingjay has in store for me, but to tell you the real reason of this post.
The wait is over, also, for another book.  By this time tomorrow, the book will finally be on shelves:

Title: Clockwork Angel
Author: Cassandra Clare
Pages: 496
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry
Publication Date: August 31

Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: Jem, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa.
As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
Obviously, I know I am doing this post a day earlier than I should, since the book comes out tomorrow, but I'm just so excited about the release that after work- instead of coming home and blogging- I'm going to go buy the book.
Reviews of these books will be coming soon!  Until then, happy reading.
