10 Book Series I've Been Meaning to Finish

Tuesday, July 28, 2020

About two or three years ago, I started making a yearly bookish goals list and it has always included “Finish at least 12 series.” Up until last year, I was steadily making that goal. Since I started grad school, I admit, I haven’t been reading as much. However, whatever chance I get, I try to finish a few book series. This past month, I finally completed the Dorothy Must Die series by Danielle Paige. Hopefully, in August, I can get another series done.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is a freebie so I decided to discuss some amazing book series: 10 Book Series I’ve Been Meaning to Finish:

The Diviners by Libba Bray (3 more left): This is a quintessential book to read during autumn. It’s gorgeously atmospheric and just gives you all the spooky vibes. The only issue is that these books are so huge, that they’re a bit daunting to even pick up. However, I’m waiting til the fall to continue on in the sequel.

The Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo (2 more left): I read the Six of Crows duology when it first released and absolutely adored it so decided to give her debut series a go. I didn’t like the first one as much as I thought I was going to but definitely want to continue to see where it goes. Also, the series is becoming a Netflix show and Ben Barnes is starring as the Darkling and I can’t wait to see how that turns out!

The Honors by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre (1 more left): I might be able to finish this book soon. It’s one of the only science fiction series I love. I hope this author duo returns to grace our shelves with more books someday.

Trylle by Amanda Hocking (2 more left): Who would have thought I would love a book about a secret troll princess as much as I did? There’s two more in the series and the first went by so quickly so maybe I’ll be able to finish these soon.

Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay (1 more left): I always put this on my yearly TBR but never seem to get around to it. It’s a supernatural twist on Romeo and Juliet and I remember really enjoying the first one so hopefully, the sequel is even better.

Winterhaven by Kristi Cook (2 more left): These books have been on my shelves for so long! I remember that the protagonist was a freshman in college and that there’s vampires. Maybe a reread of the first book is in order.

Vampirates by Justin Somper (3 more left): I fell in love with this series back in high school and really should just reread them all. I read the first three and that cliffhanger of the third book left me in pieces. There seemed to be a long wait for the forth and I just haven’t picked them up again.

The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa (1 more left): I’m counting The Iron Fey, as the first four books instead of combining the spin off series, The Call of the Forgotten, with it. For the first time in at least five years, I decided to binge the first three in the series this month. It was so fantastic! I didn’t own the 4th so I ordered it online, and it finally arrived yesterday. Maybe I’ll be able to finish the series in the next few months.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch (2 more left): I may have to read the first book to continue on in this series; it has been so long since I’ve read it. However, the sequels have been staring at me from my bookshelf and I definitely need to get to them this year.

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco (2 more left): I read Hunting Prince Dracula last year and it just reminded me how fun this series is, I don’t know why I don’t binge them all together.

  1. I also started with Six of Crows and was blown away by that duology. For me, the Shadow and Bone trilogy got better with every book - makes sense since the author grows along with the series :)

  5. Oh, boy, I forgot all about Julie Kagawa's books. I had them on my radar for a while. I'm hoping to finish Seanan McGuire's Wayward Children series. The books are all very short, so I really haven't had any excuse for not keeping up with it!
