Top 10 Favorite Books I Barely Remember

Tuesday, January 23, 2018

This is going to be a fun one. In anticipation of writing this post, I went to my Goodreads Favorites shelf and couldn't believe that I barely remembered any of them. Mind you, I believe I have a pretty good memory when it comes to most things. However, when it comes to characters' names or plot twists, I just shrug my shoulders. I remember the book was really good, does that count?

The way to solve this is to reread all of my long-ago favorites. Before I get to rereading, here's the list of all my favorite books I seriously need to reread and what I remember about them; I remember that random-est things about them. (Since, I don't really remember much from each book, some might expose spoilers unintentionally.) Top Ten Tuesday is created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is: Top Ten Books I Liked But Can't Remember.

But, wait, before we get into that: I have an announcement! The Bucket List is hosting its 3rd annual book discussion this April. It'll be loads of fun with guest posts, giveaways, hilarious commentary, and more. However, I need your help! What book do you want to discuss? Vote on your favorite in the poll below! (I'll be announcing the winner on Thursday.)

Unwind by Neal Shusterman: Parents can choose to unwind children and sell their organs for extra cash. Some children escape their unwinding. And I'm pretty sure they hitch a ride in the back of a truck, at some point in the book.

To Catch A Pirate by Jade Parker: I remember reading this book in one sitting. The love interest keeps swooning over the protagonist showing her ankles. There must have been pirates but I don't remember any.

Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow: Zombies, despite what the title makes you believe. There's something about a school. In the end, in grand exit fashion, they leave on a helicopter straight into the sunset.

The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray: Since this is the third in the series, I can't really pinpoint what happened in this specific novel. However, I do remember being devastated after a character death.

Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz: The boy is psychic when he touches others so he waits after the bell rings, at school, to walk to his next class. The female lead receives death threats from a stalker.

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey: Everything I remember now is from the movie so I can't even say what happened in the book.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick: This one is about a fallen angel. He's name is Patch (look at me remembering names!). During gym class, they have to climb a rope. And if I'd have to bet, I would say Nora falls and Patch catches her, revealing his true nature. Something like that.

A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson: There's a lake behind the castle. I think that's where the protagonist goes to mope once and a while. Also, the love interest throws a fit when the protagonist cuts her hair.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry: It's set in high school. Echo is the name of our protagonist. McGarry switches perspectives between chapters.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin: I remember that Mara Dyer is not a real name. Also, there's a bad boy character, Noah, and he may have a dark past. There's some sort of house fire where people played with an Ouija board right before. And a neighbor who abuses his dog. I don't remember much.

What are some favorites that you've completely forgotten about?

  1. I vaguely remember reading Hush, Hush! I mostly just remember him playing pool, maybe? The rest of your list is still in my TBR, ah, the neverending pile :) Happy reading!

  2. Haha, I get so embarrassed when I've seen the movie and read the book and don't know what the differences are. I feel like that happens with Harry Potter a lot; even though I've read the books multiple times, I've also seen the movies many times and I get confused - sometimes something happened only in the movies and I think it happened in the books.

  4. Hush Hush is also on my list! And honestly I need to just re-read the entirety of the Libba Bray series. It has been way too long and my mind is fuzzy on the story! Awesome list!

    My Top Ten Tuesday!

  5. Oh yeah the Fifth Wave. I have that mostly with its sequel. Like it is so tiny compared to the first one but I could not tell you what happens in it, haha.
