Best of 2012: YA Book Couples

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Every year, the last full week of December is filled with posts for the Best of that present year and this year is no different.  Every day, this week, will be a day to celebrate 2012 so we will be able to say goodbye to  it on New Year's when we welcome 2013.  Today, The Bucket List is showcasing the best YA couples from books I read this year:

Theia and Haden (Dreaming Awake by Gwen Hayes)
"It wasn't his fault, I wanted to tell him, but first I needed to be closer to him.  I pulled back just enough that I could look into his eyes, into the heat I always found there."
-p. 93, Theia Alderson about Haden Black

Hazel and Augustus (The Fault in our Stars by John Green)
"So of course I tensed up when he touched me.  To be with him was to hurt him-- inevitably.  And that's what I'd felt as he reached for me: I'd felt as though I were committing an act of violence against him, because I was."
-p. 101, Hazel Grace about Augustus Waters

Tris and Four (Insurgent by Veronica Roth)
"'Nothing else is all right.'  His whisper tickles my cheek.  'But we are.'"
-p. 48, Tobias/Four to Tris

Mara and Noah (The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin)
"'I would rather die with the taste of you on my tongue than live and never touch you again.  I'm in love with you, Mara.'"
-Noah Shaw to Mara Dyer

Juliette and Adam (Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi)
"This time I'm in his arms and against the wall and I'm trembling everywhere and he's so gentle, so careful, touching me like I'm made of porcelain and I want to shatter."
-p. 147, Juliette about Adam
