Movie Monday (January 24)

This week, since neither Gina nor I have seen any movies based off books in the past week or so, I thought I'd just highlight a few of my favorite movies that came out in the theaters recently.

The first one is Easy A, a cute romantic comedy starring Emma Stone (Zombieland and Superbad), Penn Badgley (John Tucker Must Die and Gossip Girl), and Amanda Bynes (Sydney White and She's the Man). Easy A follows the story of Olive Penderghast when she decides to use high school gossip as means to get popular. It all backfires when her classmates start turning against her. With help from unexpected sources, Olive attempts to take on her notorious new identity and crush the rumor mill once and for all.

What I loved most about this movie was the laugh-out-loud moments all throughout it. Both of Olive's parents are hilarious! Below is a clip from one of my favorite parts of the movie, hope you like it!

Another movie that recently came out is Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. This movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal (The Day After Tomorrow and Brokeback Mountain) and Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans and Quantum of Solace). Fun fact, Gina and I went to see this movie in theaters together; we had a great time!

This movie tells how "a young fugitive prince and princess must stop a villain who unknowingly threatens to destroy the world with a special dagger that enables the magic sand inside to reverse time" (IMBD). I have to admit that the plot sounds kind of lame, but the movie was really good! The only issue I had was with the ending. It could have been a better conclusion, but all in all, it was a great watch.

What are you watching?

  1. Both of these are movies I'd like, Easy A looks so funny. I actually went to watch Blue Valentine with some friends and it was surprisingly good! It deals with some serious stuff but it had some light hearted moments courtesy of Ryan Gosling.
