Blog Hop and Follow Friday!

Friday, January 14, 2011

Gina and Nora are collaborating today on this post. Here's Gina!

Did I ever tell you how much I love Fridays? (Duh, I think I tell you that every Friday.) Every Friday happens to be the day of making new friends and the home of two great memes that I seem to worship every Friday. Anyway, on to the memes!

Here's for hopping!

This wonderful meme is done by Jennifer from Crazy for Books. The meme, the Book Blogger Hop is a great place for book bloggers and readers, alike, to connect and come together in the name of books!
Here's what the meme says: This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!

There is a question each week that participants are expected to respond to. I think this meme is such a great way for my fellow bloggers and my great guests to get to know me better. The question is made by Barb of Sugarbeat's Books.

Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?

Response: Obviously, I am in love with young adult literature- any YA "literature," really. I have a secret obsession over YA historical romance. I've been in love with The Luxe series, ever since they came out. There has to be something about the chivalry of knights and Shadowhunters. I love the attitude and the style of conversation. I really don't know how to explain it, without using a quote from a really cool mini-series, "Lost in Austen." "Lost in Austen" is about a fan of Jane Austen that goes into the ever popular book, "Pride and Prejudice," and begins changing the storyline:

"I love the love story. I love Elizabeth. I love the manners and langauge and the courtesy. It's become part of who I am and what I want. I'm saying that I have standards."

Here's Nora!
Another great meme is Follow Friday, which is hosted by Parajunkee over at Parajunkee's View.
So, you guys know what to do: so here's the question!

What makes up your non-human family?

Response: Well, though I know Gina has a Golden Retriever puppy named Lydia, but my non-human family consists of something other than a dog. I have crabs! I'm very proud to own crabs, and I love them (though they are really boring and nocturnal). As of now, I have eight hermit crabs. They are currently living in the corner of my dining room. I like to think they love me as the "hand" that feeds them and gives them water all the time. But then again, I'll probably never know.

Hope you guys enjoy this week's Hop and Follow!

Don't forget to spread the love.. and the followers!

  2. Stopping by from the hop! Hermit crabs, huh? Last time I was around any of those, they had gotten loose in the back of an SUV on the way back from the beach! Interesting trip, btw lol :)

  3. Wow, hermit crabs? That's pretty cool... We used to collect them at the beach in the summertime and then let them all go at the end of the summer. Pretty cool little guys :)

  4. I love crabs! I haven't ever owned one, but I think they're so cool. I once saw a frog at Petsmart that used to love to float up in the air bubbles just to swim down to the bottom again. I watched him for nearly 15 minutes. I really wanted to buy him, but we weren't going home and I didn't want him to die.
